Kiev Sax Quartet

Kiev Sax Quartet was founded in 1985 by the soloist of the orchestra of the National Opera of Ukraine, Yurii Vasylevych. The quartet was created on the basis of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine.
The members of the quartet are: Yurii Vasylevych (leader) – soprano saxophone, Mykhailo Mymryk – alto saxophone, Stanislav Nidzelskyi – tenor saxophone and Roman Fotuima – baritone saxophone.
The quartet appeared in many cities of Ukraine, as well as in several countries of the world: in Hungary, France, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Germany, USA, Canada, Belarus, Poland and China.
The Kiev Sax Quartet won the first prize in the National Competition of Chamber Ensembles of Ukraine, held in Kiev, and has been awarded repeatedly in competitions and international festivals, such as the International Competition of Jazz of Lviv, the International Contest of Music Bands and Chamber Ensembles of Rivne (Ukraine), the International Music Competition of Rostock (Germany), the International Festival of Slavonic Music of Paris, etc The Ensemble presented their concert programs in the 10th World Congress of Saxophone in Pesaro (Italy), the European Congress of Clarinetistas and Saxophonists in Budapest (Hungary), the 12th World Congress of Saxophone in Montreal (Canada), the 14th World Congress of Saxophone in Ljubljana (Slovenia), the European Forum of Saxophone in Wroclaw (Poland).
During its 38 years of existence, the quartet has given more than 4000 concerts. He has made recordings for the files of the National Radio of Ukraine and has released more than 10 CDS.
Kiev Sax Quartet played with instruments Selmer-Paris and accessories Vandoren.
