PROGRAM NOTES

Various aesthetics coexist in this brief program of duets of French music that offers a sample of the great complicity that share the musicians of the duo Neva. Carl-Emmanuel Fisbach and Florent Monfort choose to juxtapose transcripts baroque and neoclassical TWENTIETH century in the works for strings and clarinet and works of the repertoire is original, with a nod to the current music and jazz, with modes of interpretation extended. Ximix, François Rossé, written in medieval style, highlights improvisation. The instrumentation, two saxophones soprano, reminiscent of the period instruments like the cornetto, the torch. Originally written for two violins, the Sonata of Jean-Marie Leclair, a voluble, highlights the brightness of the saxophone in a canonical scripture, and contrapuntística. Subtlety, fragility and intimacy characterize the Idylle of Charles Koechlin. This miniature is written by one of the best representatives of the French school of the early TWENTIETH century. The Sonata in three movements (Presto, Andante, Bref) by Francis Poulenc is one of his first works. Italready shows the high-level of expertise in the writing and the technical mastery of wind instruments of wood that characterize the composer. Composed in 2004 by the saxophonist Christophe Monniot, la Valse pour Alex and the Bourrée des Mariés make a foray humorous in the world of jazz.
